My name is Mona Sorensen. I am a qualified therapist and personal trainer, life coach in training, marathon runner and lover of life. I have lived in Denmark, Tanzania and now the UK, and being of mixed heritage I consider myself a global nomad. This has made it pretty easy for me to adapt to any culture, fuelling my own passion for travel and exploration. I believe that life is a journey, not a destination, and believe that we all have the power within us to make the change we want in our lives. Sometimes we get stuck, and might need a bit of help. My own desire for helping people came about when I was very young, and since then I have found myself exploring which profession would allow me to do just that. This journey has led me to the launch of Mantra Coaching, which encompasses my belief in the body-mind connection. I discovered through my love for running, that having a mantra or several mantras, helped build an inner strength and resilience, which made me conquer goals I thought I could never achieve!
I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy having qualified as a therapist in 2005, completing an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling. I am an integrative therapist and work collaboratively with my clients. Since qualifying, I have worked within various therapy settings, including five years as the Client Services Coordinator for Mankind, a charity supporting men who have been sexually abused. Currently I also work as an honorary counsellor for The Dialogue Centre.
I am also a qualified level 3 Personal Trainer (REPS registered member and insured) and an England Athletics Leader in Running Fitness. I freelance at Run School, where I coach both children and adults. I hold an up to date and enhanced DBS. I have run several marathons and half-marathons and am an active runner, triathlete and cross-fitter. I compete in races for Brighton Phoenix Athletics and Triathlon Club and am always looking for that next sporting challenge.
